Cutting crown molding
Mitre for inside and outside corners
Sample room layout for installing crown molding

Use a compound mitre saw
Cutting crown molding with a compound mitre saw makes for faster, easier, cleaner cutting. Crown molding draws alot of attention and makes the difference between
a nice room and an oustanding room!
Cutting inside corners
When cutting crown molding to fit an inside corner, first start a piece of molding in the corner with a square cut. Next, take the piece that will run into(the inside corner of the room) your first piece and mitre it on a compound angle. This will expose the profile of the molding in the end grain. Using a coping saw, back cut the molding following along the front edge of its profile. Fit the crown up into your
inside corner against your first piece of crown molding. Make sure your two pieces come together in a tight joint with no gaps. You may or may not have to back cut or sand your second piece again to get that good fit.
