Poplar
Poplar is cheap!
A cheap wood specie, poplar is often used for paint grade moldings because it takes paint well. Poplar is a close grained wood that machines and sands well! It's harder than pine and generally has a light yellow coloring although it can range from light green to purple.
We reccommend using darker stains for poplar moldings because of the wide range of colors which may occur in an 8' piece of poplar molding. Paint grade wood moldings can brighten up any interior and can be used in conjuction with painted wall panels
